Our Staff and Instructors
Dawn Locke, Owner, Repair Technician 20+ years experience as a professional trumpet player, repair technician, and private instructor. Dawn holds a Bachelor of Arts in music degree from St. Mary's College of Maryland, a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from Northwestern University and completed Teacher Certification at Duquesne University. She also attended Shenandoah Conservatory of Music and The University of Maryland. Her private trumpet teachers included Dr. Robert Cameron, Emerson Head, and Vincent Cichowicz among others.
Kirby The Shop Assistant and General Helper Miss Kirby grew up as a "shop dog" and had 14-1/2 years experience assisting with everything from greeting customers to warning us of the arrival of the very dangerous UPS trucks and mail carriers. Unfortunately, our sweet friend and co-worker passed away on June 15, 2009. She is missed by all who knew her and we will always remember her eagerness to please and smiling face. Cathy Thorsen, Office Manager/Sales Cathy comes to us after many years with the Calvert County Division of Fire-Rescue-EMS. She worked as division level liason between the county government and nine volunteer Fire-Rescue-EMS divisions as well as being an administrative assistant to the County Engineer. She has extensive knowledge and experience handling financial statements, budgets and supervising support staff. Cathy attended I.T.T. Business Institute in Annapolis, MD.

Christy Burroughs - Flute/Woodwinds InstructorMrs. Christina Burroughs began her teaching career as a band and strings specialist in Anne Arundel County in 2003. She moved to St. Mary's County and began teaching as a strings specialist in 2004. She has taught band and strings at both the elementary and secondary levels and is currently teaching at two elementary schools in St. Mary's County. In 2007, Mrs. Burroughs had the honor of conducting the St. Mary's All-County Elementary Honor Orchestra. Mrs. Burroughs holds a Bachelor of Music Degree, with a concentration in Music Education, from James Madison University. She studied flute under Ms. Carol Kniebusch Noe and Dr. Beth Chandler. Mrs. Burroughs has performed in the JMU Flute Choir, under the direction of Ms. Noe, at the White House, the National Flute Association Convention in Washington, D.C., and the Birmingham Flute Festival in Birmingham, England. While at James Madison, she was also one of the 450 members of the Marching Royal Dukes under the direction of Dr. J. Patrick Rooney and Mr. Brantley T. Douglas. As a member of the Marching Royal Dukes, Mrs. Burroughs performed for the Greek Millennium Celebration in Athens, Greece, the first Inaugural Parade for President George W. Bush, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Mrs. Burroughs also works with the Chopticon High School bands along side her husband, Mr. Todd Burroughs. |
